Maxin' and Relaxin'

Tummy time doesn't last very long around here anymore. Not since Jay has learned the secret art of ROLLING OVER! He'll be on his tummy for a grand total of 1 minute and then think "ah, I'm sick of this..." and pop himself onto his back. He's still trying to master the art of rolling over from back to front. So, while I'm here, which one of you lucky toys should I play with?
Hmmm...what to do, what to do? Well, I'll just try to eat both of these toys and then I'll go for the apple later. YUM! Plastic!

Giggly Jumperoo!

Jay was in his Jumperoo today for almost an hour. He was having too much fun! I kept jumping around with him and he thought that was quite funny. I also clapped my hands and sang to him while he bounced...but I got tired of it after about 15 minutes, so I retreated to his room to fold some clothes as he played in the hall.

45 minutes later he wanted out. And even then it was like "well, I *could* stand to get out of this thing..." and he kept bouncing. I didn't want to let it get to a full on whine with him...so I pulled him out and we played 'blow raspberries' on the bed.

He then promptly passed out after about 5 minutes of raspberries.

Slept for an hour and 20 minutes!

I LOVE the jumperoo! Oooh, cool, the music starts up and the lights flash when I bounce!
YAY! BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE!
I AM SOOO EXCITED TO BE IN THIS THING!

Sweethearts

This layout is of my Oma and Opa as they board the plane to New York from Amsterdam.

The paper is Wild Asparagus and I used the same layout idea as the one below with Jon & Jay...i couldn't think of anything else! Ah well!

Baby Blue

Layout of Chris and Jay together...you can't see the picture all that well but it shows off Jay's big, bright blue eyes so well!

Jay in The Jumperoo!

Jay in his favourite new toy...his Fisher Price Jumperoo!
(he's in it right now while I'm writing this...it's a LIFESAVER!)

All Boy

NOT my favourite layout, but still kinda cool.
Jay and Chris on the floor playing around

Junkitz Paper and embellishments...

Uncle Jon and Jay - Halloween 2005

Layout of Jon with Jay. Jon gave Jay an Oh Henry bar on Halloween and that child had iron fists...he would NOT let that chocolate bar go! Jon thought it was funny...

Little Man

This was my first attempt at 'distressing' the paper with ink. It was kinda fun, but I tell ya I got so nasty dirty doing it. I soon found a better technique, and haven't gotten covered from head to toe in a long time. Paper used is...you guessed it! Ki Memories.
Journalling reads:
You are my funny little Beast! You are so very animated with all of your guestures. It's so much fun to watch you develop into your own little person. Silly personality and all!

September 2005

Baby Dreamer

A pic of Jay and I when he was just a little over 6 weeks old. One very precious moment when he was quiet and just sleeping on me. I took this picture of the two of us...I had no idea it would turn out this well.
I love this picture, and the layout...it's just so precious!

Journalling reads:
A mothers arms are made of tenderness and children sleep soundly in them

Funky Chick!

Me, in college. I'm a little odd...I loved this picture because of the socks.

All Yours - Family of Three

Just a simple layout of Christopher, Jay & I in September. Jay was just a little over 2 months old. We don't have many pics of the three of us all together, so I liked this one especially because it's a rare pic of us interacting.

Boys will be Boys!

Just a goofy layout of my brother and my husband together!

Four Months!

The "4 months old" layout. Chronicling (ugh, spelling) his milestones for that month.

Says:
Sleeps through the night
Started Solids: Rice cereal & peas
Drinks 8 ounces at every feeding
Takes 3 naps a day
Rolls over from front to back
Sits up with a little help

Jay and Uncle Jon

Wild Asparagus paper and embellishments.
This picture was taken the day after I had Jay, I think he wasn't even a day old in that pic.

Aquarium Gym

Hey Look! One of very few layouts that doesn't have KI Memories stuff in it! Amazing! (can you tell I'm a big fan of KI?) Anyway, this one is made up of all Doodlebug, except for the ribbon which I got at Micheals and I think it's called "bobbin ribbon".

Love the colours in this layout. I just took from the aqua-gym in the picture and wanted to pull out those colours. Plus the word-play paper was perfect too!

Baby Jay in His Swing

This layout was just a modge podge of stuff I had laying around, and it really works well! EVERYTHING is KI except for the rub-ons and the flowers (and i have no idea what the flowers are). I thought the colour of the paper went so well with his eyes...and I was just dying to use the ribbon that came with the set!

First Halloween LO

This is the first of THREE Halloween layouts I did of Jay, and I think I still have 2 more to finish. This is my favourite. It's simple, I love the little ribbon tie and the simple stickers and such. It works.

Cousins

This is actually one of my favourite layouts in a long time. Only because it's just kinda cool...I love the colour and the piecey look. It was made from KI Memories paper and Bazzill cardstock. I just snipped out a few phrases from some pp and distressed them with ink and adhered them to the page.

Rock & Roll!

A simple LO of Jay trying to roll over. Before he ever actually conqured the task, he would try so hard to roll over and then would get very frustrated and just lay there staring at us as if to say "get me up, this is embarassing".
Silly boy!

Simple Man

A layout of Christopher and Jay together, Jay is just over 3 months old in this picture...the journalling is from the song "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Well, Momma told me
When I was young
Said sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this, it'll help you some sunny day (ahhh ya)
Oh, take your time
Don't live too fast
Troubles will come
And they will pass
You'll find a woman
And you'll find love
And don't forget that there is someone up above
And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can
Forget your lust
For rich man's gold
All that you need now
Is in your soul
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want from you my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
Baby, be a simple kind of man
Won't you do this for me son, if you can
Oh, don't you worry
You'll find yourself
Follow your heart
And nothing else
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want from you my son, is to be satisfied
And be a simple kind of man
Be something you love and understand
baby, be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can
So baby, be a simple be a simple man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can

Eating Bananas with Opa-Opa

I do not like bananas. They are weird and they taste funny and they make me want to gag. Mommy tried to feed me bananas the other night and I took one bite and that was it. No more. So I'm playing cool and ignoring her...
So here I sit in my highchair ignoring everyone, pretending to be preoccupied with my safety strap and all the cool fishies all over my chair...
But something has caught my eye! I see my Opa-Opa!
He's silly...he makes me laugh. And he doesn't make me eat nasty bananas. I like Opa-Opa.
I think I'll trade mommy for him.

SANTA!

We took Jay to see Santa this past Friday!
As usual, he was such a good boy, he did try to pull on Santa's beard a few times, which would have been catastrophic for the other toddlers in line for Santa, so we tried to prevent a Santa pull-off by making the picture as quick as possible.
Doesn't it look like he's "hanging" with Santa...he's one of Santa's little elves!

LOL!

A Little Update on Jay

In the last few weeks we have:

-tried carrots (ew, gross, yuck)
-tried squash (not too sure about that)
-fallen in LOVE with peas
-graduated to the bath-ring sit-up position in the tub
-pulled off socks and sucked on toes
-learned to sing with mama and daddy to songs like 'jesus loves me' and 'this little light of mine' (goo-goo!)
-met santa

I'm so thankful for all the new milestones!

Bathtime for boo-bear

This little boy LOVES his bath. I remember when I gave him his first bath, it was a struggle. He was a couple of days old, we had come back from the hospital and he had peed all over himself so he was definetely *due* for a bit of a cleansing.

He HATED it. He cried and thrashed, and I felt so bad. My tiny little newborn was so unhappy and I made him that way. I cried too. But his tears didn't last long, he was soon swooped up in a towel by daddy and cuddled and sang to, and that scary first bath was over!

Fast forward 5 months and I have a little fish on my hands! He loves to play in his tub. We've even put him in the BIG tub with me, he loves to kick and splash all over the place.

I'm thinking about joining a mommy & me swim group...I'm sure my little fishy would be thrilled with being in a 'big bathtub' more often.

Read to me Daddy!

I was in the kitchen making lunch today and came back to this:

HOW CUTE!

Beautiful Fall Day

Yesterday was a goregous crisp fall day. A good day to clean up the yard and go for a walk.
After Jay woke from his nap, I bundled him all up (in the CUTEST little set from his Uncle Cam & Aunt Melissa) and we went for a walk to visit Opa-Opa. The sun was beautiful, the weather was a little chilly, but not windy and it was nice walking weather.

I think Jay had a great time. He is now big enough to stick his feet out of the end of his stroller...so he was kicking and bouncing throughout the whole journey. Some cute pics of my boy in his cute little outfit.

Family Christmas pictures

We had our 'Christmas portraits' taken on Friday, and I just thought I'd share some of the candids that we took after we got home. Isn't Jay too cute in that little hat?

Saturday, November 19, 2005

So the other day...

...we needed to go out to the mall in order to find a sweater for daddy and a shirt for mommy. Our Christmas portraits were coming up soon and we needed to get on the ball.
It was COLD outside. Usually Jay is okay in a jacket a hat and wrapped up in a blanket in his chair, but it was a frigid 3 degrees outside and that just wasn't going to cut it.

So out came the bearsuit...we affectionately call it the 'grumpy bear suit' because Jay is less than thrilled in it. But it does keep him warm. We just need to find some mittens, but until then we're pretty ghetto and we stick socks on his hands.
Gotta love this picture, he looks so stinking THRILLED to be in this get-up. Poor kid...the things he goes through for us.
Okay, I'm ready, lets get this show on the road!

The cutest outfit EVER!

I think it's pretty darn cute if you ask me.

Juice!

Jay has been sick for a little while now, and even though most of the cold has died down, he's really congested. We've been giving him a *little* apple juice with some water to help him stay hydrated. I don't think he really drank any of it...but he sure enjoyed gnawing on the nipple.
Such a big boy, holding is own bottle! He fights me at feedings to hold the bottle, but he has some practice ahead of him still!
Cutie pie!

Mommy's smoochy woochums

Can I just gush about my boy for a minute?
I am so blessed with such a sweet natured, beautiful, happy, healthy little boy.
Today we took Jay to get his portrait taken, and even though he was still sick, snuffly and all around annoyed to be out, he smiled for the camera like some kind of pro.
He is such a friendly, happy little boy. I call him my little flirt. Which, I guess is okay for now, but I can only imagine the trouble I'll be facing when my little beastie turns into a teenager...and beyond!

But I don't want to think about that. Right now I'm just happy to enjoy my sweet sweet babe. He's growing up so fast and I want to hold on to every moment and not let it go.

**Mommy loves her boy.
He is sooo kissable and squeezable and BOY does he smell good (except for when there is some funk in the trunk, then he's nasty...)! **

PEAS ARE GOOOOOOD

And peas are the new food of the day/week. Jay was happy to try them and on the first night we fed them to him, he was happy, ate half a jar and was just pleased as punch to try something other than that vile nasty rice cereal.

Well now we just won't eat either...rice cereal is bland and nasty and the peas are more fun to smear than to eat!

So mommy has to try carrots and maybe come back to peas later down the road. Silly beast...peas are for IN YOUR MOUTH!

LOL!

Sick sick little man...

Hanging out on our favourite new blankie...big and cuddley warm.

Poor Jaybird is SICK.
He's been snuffly for a few days, but this morning he's been coughing, crying and snotty like nobody's business!
I'm so worried for him because I HATE being sick myself. I can only imagine what it's like for him. I am trying to keep his poor nose as snot-free as possible, but who likes those nasal aspirator things anyway? Nobody. Ick. Poor Jay.

Anyway, we'll see how today progresses, I gave my little guy a bit of infants cold medication and he's napping now. Hopefully today will be filled with naps, cuddles and fluids!
